Vehicle Demagnetizing

NOTE: Use a standard demagnetizing coil commonly used by a television technician.

NOTE: Use a constant motion over the vehicle when demagnetizing or else the vehicle will be remagnetized.

1. Turn on demagnetizer at least 1 m (3 ft) away from the vehicle.

2. Holding the demagnetizer no more than 2.5 cm (1 in) from the roof, make four passes, continuous motion, over the roof according to the Vehicle Demagnetizing image.
3. After the fourth pass, without stopping, move the demagnetizer at least 1 m (3 ft) away from the vehicle and turn OFF.
4. Pass the demagnetizer over the mirror mounting pad no more than 2.5 cm (1 in) from the windshield surface.
5. Recalibrate the compass.
