Electronic Brake Control Module: Service and Repair
REMOVAL:Disconnecting Battery Ground Cable:
- Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Disconnecting Anti-lock Electronic Control Module Electrical Connector:
- Disconnect the anti-lock electronic control module electrical connector.
^ Loosen the bolt and disconnect the electrical connector.
Loosening Front LH Lug Nuts:
- Loosen the front LH lug nuts.
1. Remove the center cap.
2. With the weight of the vehicle on the wheels, loosen, but do not remove, the lug nuts.
CAUTION: Do not use heat to loosen the lug nuts. Heat can damage the wheel and wheel bearings.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM MUST BE SHUT OFF PRIOR TO HOISTING, JACKING OR TOWING AN AIR SUSPENSION VEHICLE. THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY TURNING OFF THE AIR SUSPENSION SWITCH LOCATED IN THE REAR JACK STORAGE AREA. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN UNEXPECTED INFLATION OR DEFLATION OF THE AIR SPRINGS WHICH MAY RESULT IN SHIFTING OF THE VEHICLE DURING THESE OPERATIONS.
Removing LH Wheel And Tire Assembly:
- Remove the LH wheel and tire assembly.
1. Remove the lug nuts.
2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
Removing LF Fender Apron Screws:
- Remove the LH fender apron screws.
Removing Left Front Fender Apron:
- Remove the left front fender apron.
1. Remove the bolts.
2. Remove the nut.
3. Remove the fender apron.
Removing Anti-lock Electronic Control Module:
- Remove the anti-lock electronic control module.
1. Remove the bolt.
2. Remove the anti-lock electronic control module.
NOTE: Module is located above LH fender apron.

Installing LH Wheel And Tire Assembly:
Connecting Battery Ground Cable:
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.
