Starting System: Description and Operation

The starting system consists of:
^ Starter motor.
^ Starter solenoid.
^ Starter drive.
^ Ignition switch.
^ Starter motor solenoid relay switch.
^ Battery.
^ Digital Transmission Range (DTR) sensor.
^ Transmission Range (TR) sensor.

The function of the starting system is to crank the engine at a speed fast enough to permit the engine to start.
