Removal
1. Raise and support the vehicle.2. Remove the drain plug and drain the fluid.
NOTE: Do not drain the fluid unless disassembly is required.
3. Remove the four bolts from the skid plate and remove the skid plate.
4. Mark the rear transfer case flange and the rear driveshaft for correct installation.
5. Remove the four bolts from the rear driveshaft to the rear transfer case flange.
6. Wire the rear driveshaft aside.
7. Remove the front driveshaft.
8. Disconnect the speed sensor.
9. If necessary, remove one screw and the speed sensor.
10. Remove the vent tube.
11. Support the transfer case with Hi-Lift transmission Jack.
- Secure the transfer case to jack with safety strap.
12. Remove the vibration damper to transfer case nut.
(1) Loosen the strut bolts.
(2) Remove the transfer case nut.
13. Remove the strut bolts and remove the vibration damper.
14. Remove the six transfer case to extension housing bolts and remove the transfer case.
15. Lower Hi-Lift Transmission Jack and the transfer case.
16. Clean both gasket surfaces.
