Drive Test Description

PURPOSE:

Use this drive test when either of two conditions exist:
1. Symptom Evaluation Drive - The customer may only have a general concern about the way the vehicle is braking. There may not be a clear system concern to trouble shoot. This drive test is designed to produce common system concern symptoms. Once a symptom is found, a symptom trouble shooting procedure can be followed to repair the vehicle.

2. Recommended Repair Verification - Use this drive procedure after all vehicle repairs. Because the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module is unable to detect some system concerns unless the vehicle is driven under specific conditions, this drive test can be helpful in developing further confidence in the Four Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System (4WABS) system operation before delivery to the customer. Following the drive cycle test, perform a zero speed ABS test using the New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester.

DRIVE DESCRIPTION:

The drive cycle test is used for three purposes:
1. To verify a repair to the ABS system.
2. To attempt to recreate an intermittent concern.
3. To attempt to detect a symptom when a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or a concern symptom is unknown.
