Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Always disconnect the battery ground cable prior to work on the electronic engine controls.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.





2. Remove the Knock Sensor (KS).
1 Disconnect the electrical connector.
2 Remove the KS.
3 Remove the KS adapter.
4 Remove the KS heat shield.

INSTALLATION





1. Install the knock sensor adapter.
1 Install the knock sensor heat shield.
2 Install the knock sensor adapter.





2. Install the knock sensor.
1 Install the knock sensor.
2 Connect the knock sensor electrical connector.
3. Connect the battery ground cable.
