Flow of Diagnosis
1. Verify the customer concern by operating the Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) system.2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.
Visual Inspection Chart
Mechanical
- Damaged door lock cylinder
- Damaged ignition cylinder
- Damaged switch(es)
- Damaged relays
Electrical
- Blown fuse(s)
- Loose or corroded connections
3. If the inspection reveals an obvious concern that is readily repaired, correct the concern before continuing with Inspection and Verification.
4. If the concern remains after the inspection, use New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester connected to the Data Link Connector (DLC) to retrieve continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and to execute Self-Test Diagnostics for the Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module. Also, enter PID/DATA Monitor and record to retrieve last alarm triggers. Record all eight AL__EVTs.
- If Self-Test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics.
- If DTCs are retrieved, go to the Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) Module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) index. Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
- If the Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module cannot be accessed by the NGS Tester, go to Pinpoint Test B. Pinpoint Tests
