Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the hood.
3. Remove the engine air cleaner assembly.
4. Remove the drive belt.
5. Remove the air conditioning condenser.
6. Remove the upper intake manifold.
7. Remove the bulkhead connector cover.
8. Disconnect the two mega fuse cable leads from the starter relay.
9. Unclip and remove the mega fuse connections from the junction block bracket.
10. Disconnect the two 42-pin connector and the single pin connector.
11. Disconnect the 16-pin connector and the single pin connector.
12. Remove the junction block bracket bolts and the junction block bracket.
13. Remove the heater supply hose from the heater core.
14. Remove the heater return hose from the heater core.
15. Disconnect the emission vacuum control connector.
16. Remove the lower power steering fluid reservoir bracket bolts.
^ Position power steering fluid reservoir and bracket aside.
17. Raise and support the vehicle.
18. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connection.
19. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor.
20. Remove the starter motor.
21. Remove the A/C compressor.
22. Remove the transmission fluid cooler hoses from the block mounted clip.
23. Remove the transmission inspection cover, torque converter bolts and transmission to engine block bolts.
24. Remove the three power steering pump bolts and position the power steering pump aside.
25. Disconnect the oil pressure switch electrical connection.
26. Disconnect the HEGO electrical connectors.
27. Remove the RH exhaust manifold to three way catalytic converter nuts.
28. Remove the RH exhaust manifold studs.
29. Remove the LH exhaust manifold to three way catalytic converter nut.
^ Position the Y pipe aside.
30. Remove the RH engine mount bolt.
31. Remove the LH engine mount bolt.
32. Loosen the oil cooler bolt and position oil cooler aside.
33. Remove the oil pressure sending unit.
34. Slide back the hose clamp and disconnect the lower radiator hose from oil filter adapter.
35. Slide back the hose clamps and remove the coolant lines from the oil cooler.
36. Remove the oil filter insert and remove the oil cooler.
37. Remove the three retaining bolts.
38. Remove the three front oil filter adapter bolts and nut.
39. Remove the rear bolt and remove the oil filter adapter.
40. Lower the vehicle and support the transmission.
41. Install Engine Lift Bar.
42. Remove the engine.
43. Remove the flywheel.
44. Remove the rear crankshaft oil seal slinger and the rear crankshaft oil seal.
45. Place the engine on a suitable engine stand.
