Drum Brake System: Description and Operation

The rear brakes are drum type with internal shoes that expand against the brake drum when the brakes are applied. The rear drum brakes are of the single-anchor type mounted to the same anchor, and actuated by one rear wheel cylinder mounted at the top of the rear brake backing plates.

The rear drum brake system includes the following components:
^ Brake drums
^ Brake shoe retracting springs
^ Brake shoe hold-down springs
^ Brake shoe hold-down spring pins
^ Leading and trailing brake shoe and lining
^ Rear wheel cylinders
^ LH rear brake backing plate and RH brake backing plate
