DT2 Check For Unwarranted ABS Activity



DT2 CHECK FOR UNWARRANTED ABS ACTIVITY

- Drive vehicle at approximately 12 kph (20 mph).

- NOTE: When conducting the following procedure, the vehicle may pull as soon as the pump motor turns on. The front brake anti-lock sensor opposite the pull should be checked using the ABS Misfire, ABS Too Sensitive, and ABS Fires On Normal Stop symptoms on the Symptom Chart. If the pump motor turns on and no pull is felt, the rear brake anti-lock sensors should be checked using the ABS Misfire, ABS Too Sensitive, and ABS Fires On Normal Stop conditions on the Symptom Chart. If a vehicle pulls immediately upon braking and the pump motor does not turn on, use the Vehicle Pulls During Braking symptom on the Symptom Chart to diagnose the concern. NOTE: Turn off windshield wipers.

Perform a light to medium (normal traffic) stop.

Does the pump motor turn on and are brake pedal pulsations felt at any time during the stop?

Yes
If the yellow ABS warning indicator is not on, go to ABS Misfire, ABS Too Sensitive, ABS Fires On Normal Stop in the Symptom chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures

If the yellow ABS warning indicator comes on and stays on, go to DT7. DT7 Obtain Diagnostic Trouble Code

No
If other symptoms are detected, go to DT6. DT6 Determine Next Diagnostic Step Based on Brake Symptom

If the yellow ABS warning indicator is not on, go to DT3. DT3 Check For Marginally High Sensor Gap (at Idle)
