System and Component Description
Anti-Theft System
NOTE: The system immediately monitors the ignition switch lock cylinder upon removal of the key from the ignition. It is not necessary to arm the system to monitor the ignition switch lock cylinder.
The anti-theft alarm system provides vehicle protection as follows:
- It provides the vehicle with protection from unauthorized entry into the passenger compartment, luggage compartment and engine compartment.
- It also monitors the status of the ignition switch lock cylinder.
- The system is controlled by an anti-theft alarm control.
- When armed, unauthorized entry into the passenger compartment is detected by lamp switches (located in the passenger compartment front doors).
- The luggage compartment is protected by a door lock cylinder switch, located on the luggage compartment door lock cylinder.
- The engine compartment is protected by an anti-theft control bracket and switch located on the LH shock tower.
- In addition, the system triggers an alarm if the ignition switch lock cylinder is forcibly removed from the steering column.
Once triggered, the system responds as follows:
- flashes the low beam headlamps, the parking lamps, rear lamps and the alarm indicator
- sounds the horn
- disables the starter circuit until the system is dis armed
