C DTC 33, 43 LF Sensor
C1- Check Resistance Circuits 521 and 522- Disconnect 16-pin connector C140 on jumper from ABS assembly to wire harness.
- Measure resistance between pins C140-3 and C140-7 on Wire harness side connector.
- Is resistance between 1015 and 1245 ohms?
YES - Go to C3.
NO - Go to C2.
C2- Check Anti-Lock Sensor Resistance
- Disconnect LH front sensor from wire harness.
- Measure resistance between pins C144M-1 and C144M-2 on sensor.
- Is resistance between 1015 and 1245 ohms?
YES - Service or replace cable harness circuit 521(T/O) or 522 (T/BK).
NO - Replace LH front anti-lock brake sensor. Wheel Speed Sensor
C3- Check Circuits 521 and 522 at Jumper Harness
- Remove cover from hydraulic control module.
- Disconnect jumper harness from anti-lock brake control module.
- Check for broken or damaged wire in jumper between C140-7 (16-pin side) and C142-4 (15-pin side) or between C140-3 (16-pin side) and C142-12 (15-pin side).
- Are both wires OK?
YES - Go to C4.
NO - Service or replace broken or damaged wire in jumper.
C4- Check Anti-Lock Sensor For Short To Ground
- Remove cover from hydraulic control unit.
- Disconnect jumper harness from anti-lock brake control module.
- Check for a short from ground to Pin C142-4.
- Check for a short from ground to Pin C142-12.
- Is resistance 5 ohms or less?
YES - Service or replace jumper circuit 521(T/O) or 522 (T/BK), or LH front anti-lock brake sensor.
NO - Go to C5.
C5- Check LH Front Anti-lock Brake Sensor Air Gap
- Remove the LH front wheel and tire.
- Check for damage to the front anti-lock brake sensor or anti-lock sensor indicator.
- Check for objects sticking to the front anti-lock brake sensor or anti-lock sensor indicator.
- Check air gap between the sensor and indicator. Gap should be 0.6-1.6 mm (0.024-0.063 inch).
- Check for excessive wheel bearing end play. Refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
- Are the conditions OK?
YES - If the light is coming on all the time, replace the anti-lock brake control module.
NO - Service condition as required.
