Ball Joint, Lower:
DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove the front suspension lower arm.
2. Place the front suspension lower arm in a suitable vise.
3. Remove the front suspension lower arm mounting bolt bushing (rear) nut.
4. Remove the front suspension lower arm mounting bolt bushing (rear).
5. Remove the front suspension arm ball joint dust seal with a chisel and discard the front suspension arm ball joint dust seal. Do not damage the ball joint.
6. Cut away the projecting rubber on the front suspension lower arm mounting bolt bushing (front).
7. Use Gear Replacing Spacer T88T-7025-F Driveshaft Oil Seal Replacer T87P-7065-A, Forcing Screw T78P-5638-A1 (part of Suspension Bushing Service Set T78P-5638-A) a 7/16-20 nut, and a washer to press out the front suspension lower arm mounting bolt bushing (front).
ASSEMBLY
1. Liberally coat the inside of the new front suspension arm ball joint dust seal with Premium Long Life Grease XG-1-C or-K or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M1C75-B.
2. Use Dust Boot Replacer T87C-5493-A to install the front suspension arm ball joint dust seal.
3. Lightly lubricate the front suspension lower arm mounting bolt bushing (front) before installation.
4. Use C-Frame and Clamp Assembly T74P-3044-A1, and Bushing Driver T87C-5493-B2, to press in the front suspension lower arm mounting bolt bushing (front).
5. Install the front suspension lower arm mounting bolt bushing (rear) nut. Tighten the front suspension lower arm mounting bolt bushing (rear) nut to 89-117 Nm (66-86 ft. lbs.).
