Electronic Door Lock Control System
NOTE: Doors may automatically unlock as a result of shorts in the door unlock circuits.The electronic door lock control system is diagnosed as part of the overall remote control alarm and door lock system. Initiate system self test, New Generation Star (NGS) Tester use and diagnostic test codes.
1. Verify the vehicle owner's original concern by duplicating the concern.
2. Inspect to determine if one of the mechanical or electrical concerns apply:
Mechanical
- Damaged driver/passenger door lock cylinder
Electrical
- Open fuses
- Loose connections
- Corroded connections
3. If the concern(s) remains after the inspection, determine the symptom(s) and proceed to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
NOTE: For system inspection and verification using Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 001-00500 or equivalent.
To test and service door lock system:
- Check that battery is fully charged (if not, it may be causing the concern).
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
- Disconnect and reconnect battery to make sure system is reset.
- Perform the self test.
- Service only as specified in the tests.
- Repeat the self test to make sure the system is operational.
