Vehicle Damage Warnings

WARNING: USE OF A BRAKE FLUID THAT DOES NOT MEET DOT 3 SPECIFICATION COULD DAMAGE THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM AND CAUSE BRAKE FAILURE.

CAUTION:
- Never install a disc brake rotor that has been turned to minimum wear or discard thickness.

- Use of a drum puller or a torch is not recommended. Drum distortion may result.

- Loosen the adjusting screw only if the brake drum cannot be removed. Do not burr, chip or damage the notches in the adjusting screw assembly or the self adjusting screw assembly or the self adjusting mechanism will not function properly.

- The sliding function of the caliper assembly is directly influenced by performance of the guide pin boots. Care should be exercised not to cut, damage or dislodge these boots during service of the front disc brake caliper assembly. Also, the use of improper grease, such as disc brake caliper slide grease during service of the guide pins may cause the pin boots to sell thus adversely affecting the sealing function. Use Ford Dielectric Grease and Caliper Grease or equivalent.

- DO NOT let the disc brake caliper hang with its weight on the front brake hose.

- Never reuse any brake fluid removed from the brake system during any repair operation. Always discard the old brake fluid and replenish the system with fresh brake fluid.

- Do not pry on the front disc brake caliper piston with a screw driver or other tools, as this will cause chipping, nicks and gouges.
