Manual Recliner
The reclining front seat back is adjusted by a adjuster handle on the side of the seat cushion. To recline the seat back, lift the adjuster handle upward, push the seat back to the desired position, and release the handle. Spring action will return the seat back to its full-up position when the handle is released and occupant back pressure is removed. An entirely modular recliner mechanism is located on the outboard rear corner of the front seat and also provides the seat back pivot. This type of front seat back latch is used on 60/40 seat and is released by an adjuster handle on the outboard side of the seat cushion frame.
Some rear seats have a seat back recliner assembly. To recline the rear seat back lift the rear seat back latch handle upward, push the seat back to the desired position, and release the handle. Spring action will return the seat back to its full-up position when the rear seat back latch handle is released and occupant back pressure is removed.
If a recliner assembly or component is nonfunctional or damaged, the entire recliner assembly must be replaced.
