DT1.3 Check For Unwarranted RABS Activity

DT1.3 CHECK FOR UNWARRANTED RABS ACTIVITY

NOTE: Wetting down the are where the stop is to be performed will aid this test.

^ Drive the vehicle at approximately 32 km/h (20 mph).

^ Perform a light to medium (normal traffic) stop.

^ Turn off the windshield wipers if they are on. (Wipers can cause a pulsation in the brake pedal that can be mistaken for RABS activity.) Feel for a pulsation in the brake pedal within 10 seconds after the vehicle has come to a stop.

Is there any pulsation in the brake pedal any time during the stop or within 10 seconds after the vehicle has stopped and is the Rear ABS light on?

> Yes
Go to Symptom Chart A: Unwarranted RABS Activity. A - Unwarranted ABS Activity

> No
Go to Pinpoint Test DT1.4. DT1.4 Brake Stop Lamp/Switch Check

If other symptoms are detected, Go to Pinpoint Test DT1.6. DT1.6 Determine Next Diagnostic Step Based on Brake Symptom

If the Rear ABS light comes on and stays on, Go to Pinpoint Test DT1.7. DT1.7 Obtain Diagnostic Trouble Code
