SPECIFICATIONS - SERVICE TIP

FORD:
1997 TAURUS

LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1997 SABLE

ISSUE:

The 1997 AX4N transaxle uses two different Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Solenoids. The difference between the two are resistance specifications. The Taurus/Sable uses a low resistance and the Continental uses a high resistance TCC solenoid.

ACTION:





To diagnose a TCC solenoid in a 1997 Taurus/Sable vehicle, refer to the Resistance Chart above for the correct resistance values while following Pinpoint Test C1 on Page 07-01B-80 of the 1997 Taurus/Sable Service Manual. The resistance listed in the Pinpoint Test is correct. The resistance listed in the Solenoid Resistance Chart in the Service Manual is incorrect.
