1. Inspect bearings for the following defects. Possible causes are shown:
- cratering-fatigue failure (A)
- spot polishing-improper seating (B)
- scratching-dirty (C)
- base exposed-poor lubrication (D)
- both edges worn-journal damaged (E)
- one edge worn-journal tapered or bearing not seated (F)
