Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair
A/C Flusher:

REMOVAL
CAUTION: When replacing an A/C compressor which has failed internally, you must perform the following procedures to prevent contamination of the refrigerant system
- If A/C Flusher or equivalent is available, perform the Flushing procedure. Refrigerant System Flushing
- If A/C Flusher or equivalent is not available, perform the Refrigerant System Filtering After A/C Compressor Replacement procedure. Refrigerant System Filtering
- Replace the suction accumulator/drier.
- Replace the A/C evaporator core orifice.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant.
3. Remove the engine drive belt.
4. Disconnect the (A) A/C clutch electrical connector and remove the (B) power steering hose clamp nut.
5. Remove the bolt.
6. Remove the A/C compressor.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Lift out the A/C compressor.
7. If equipped, transfer the heat shield to the new compressor.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
After Repair Procedures
- Service the replacement A/C compressor with the proper amount of Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
- Lubricate the new A/C manifold O-rings with Motorcraft YN-12b refrigerant oil, or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-MC1231-B.
- Apply Pipe Sealant with Teflon (R) D8AZ-19554A or equivalent meeting Ford specifications WSK-M2G350-A2 and ESR-M18P7-A to the threads of the A/C manifold retaining bolt.
