REMOVAL

WARNING: THE LOW PRESSURE GAS SHOCK ABSORBERS ARE CHARGED WITH NITROGEN GAS 930 kPa (135 PSI). DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN, PUNCTURE, OR APPLY HEAT TO THE SHOCK ABSORBERS.

CAUTION: For removal of left front shock absorber, always disconnect top of front height sensor from upper frame bracket to prevent damage to the height sensor (when the vehicle is lowered from hoist).

NOTE: Place the four wheel drive in NORMAL.

1. Connect New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Select the RIDE CONTROL OUTPUT screen and turn on the following solenoids to vent the entire system of air and lower the vehicle to its lowest attainable height:
- FRNT FILL (front fill solenoid).
- REAR FILL (rear fill solenoid).
- GATEVALVE (gate solenoid).
- VENT (vent solenoid).

3. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM MUST BE SHUT OFF PRIOR TO HOISTING, JACKING OR TOWING OF AN AIR SUSPENSION VEHICLE. THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY TURNING OFF THE AIR SUSPENSION SWITCH LOCATED IN THE REAR JACK STORAGE AREA. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN UNEXPECTED INFLATION OR DEFLATION OF THE AIR SPRINGS WHICH MAY RESULT IN SHIFTING OF THE VEHICLE DURING THESE OPERATIONS.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector and pry the harness retainers from the frame.

5. Disconnect air line from the shock absorber.
- Push in the red ring and remove the line.

6. Disconnect the height sensor from the upper bracket.

7. Remove the upper shock absorber nut, washer and bushing.

8. Remove the lower retaining nuts.

9. Remove the shock absorber.

INSTALLATION

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: When installing air line into solenoid a minimum of 3 mm (1/8 inch) of white air line must be inserted into the fitting for correct installation.
