Ignition Coil: Service and Repair

REMOVAL







1. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connections.
1. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector.
2. Disconnect the radio ignition interference capacitor connector.
3. Squeeze the (A) locking tabs and disconnect the six (B) ignition wire and brackets and spark plug wire set.

CAUTION: Spark plug wires must be connected to the proper ignition coil terminal. Mark spark plug wire locations before removing them.







2. Remove the accelerator cable bracket and move it out of the way.
1. Remove the nut.
2. Remove the bolt.
3. Remove the accelerator cable bracket and position it aside.







3. Remove the ignition coil.
1. Remove the nuts.
2. Remove the bolt.
3. Remove the ignition coil.

4. Inspect the ignition coil for carbon tracks or damage.

INSTALLATION







1. Install the ignition coil.
1. Position the ignition coil.
2. Install the nuts.
3. Install the bolt.







2. Install the accelerator cable bracket.
1. Position the accelerator cable bracket.
2. Install the nut.
3. Install the bolt.







3. Connect the ignition coil electrical connections.
1. Connect the ignition coil electrical connector.
2. Connect the radio capacitor connector.
3. Squeeze the (A) locking tabs and connect the six (B) ignition wire and brackets.

CAUTION: Spark plug wires must be connected to the proper ignition coil terminal.
