Drive Belt: Service and Repair
CAUTION: Make sure drive belt is properly installed before starting engine, otherwise drive belt damage will occur.
NOTE:
- Minor cracks in the V-grooved portion of the drive belt are considered normal and acceptable. If the drive belt has chunks missing from the ribs, it should be replaced.
- When installing drive belts on pulley, make sure that all V-grooves make proper contact with pulleys.
Conditions requiring drive belt replacement are excessive wear, rib chunk-out, severe glazing, frayed cords and other concerns. Replace any drive belt exhibiting one of these conditions.
REMOVAL
1. Lift or rotate automatic drive belt tensioner away from drive belt.
WARNING: DO NOT ALLOW DRIVE BELT TENSIONER TO SNAP BACK, AS DAMAGE TO DRIVE BELT TENSIONER OR PERSONAL INJURY COULD RESULT.
2. Remove old drive belt.
INSTALLATION
Drive belt installation:
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order. Make sure that all V-grooves make proper contact with the pulley as shown.
CAUTION: Incorrect drive belt installation will cause drive belt failure.
