Removal

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Relieve the fuel pressure.
3. Drain the cooling system. Disconnect the Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC).
4. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
5. Remove the drive belt.
6. Remove the water pump pulley, fan and clutch assembly.
7. Remove the intake manifolds.
8. Remove the ignition wires from the spark plugs.
9. Remove the spark plugs.





10. Remove the oil level indicator tube.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the oil level indicator tube.





11. Remove the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube.
12. Remove the valve cover.
13. Remove the drive belt.
14. Recover the A/C refrigerant.





15. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from the A/C compressor.





16. Remove the A/C compressor.





17. Remove the A/C compressor mounting bracket with the power steering pump attached and position out of the way.





18. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring connector from the Generator (GEN).





19. Disconnect the (1) lower radiator hose, and the (2) heater water hose from the water pump inlet tube.





20. Remove the upper radiator hose.





21. Remove the water pump inlet tube.
- Remove the bolts.
- Remove the water pump inlet tube.





22. Remove the generator.
- Remove the bolts.
- Remove the generator.





23. Remove the generator mounting bracket.
- Remove the bolts.
- Remove the bracket.

24. Remove the ignition coils and ignition wire and bracket.
25. Remove the outer timing belt cover.
26. Remove the timing belt
27. Remove the exhaust manifold.





28. Remove the cylinder head.
- Remove the bolts and discard.
- Remove the cylinder head.
- Remove the head gasket and discard.
