Brakes and Traction Control: Service Precautions
1. Grease or any other foreign material must be kept off lining surfaces and braking surfaces of front disc brake rotor and external surfaces of wheel hub during service operation. In handling the front disc brake rotor and caliper assemblies, avoid deformation of front disc brake rotor and nicking or scratching of brake pads and linings.2. If a caliper piston is removed for any reason, the seals must be replaced. Exercise care not to damage the caliper piston by protecting it from contact with any metal or sharp objects.
3. During removal and installation of a wheel assembly, exercise care not to interfere with and damage front disc brake rotor shield or wheel cylinder bleeder screw fitting.
4. Do not attempt to clean or restore any oil or grease-soaked brake pads and linings. When contaminated linings are found, brake pads and linings must be replaced in complete axle sets and the rotor braking surfaces washed clean.
5. Calipers must be installed with wheel cylinder bleeder screws in upward position for proper bleeding of air from brake system.
