Scan Tool Testing and Procedures

VEHICLE SET UP

NOTE: Rotunda Service Bay Diagnostic System (SBDS(R)) 001-0001 may also be used to diagnose this system.

1. Perform the following vehicle set-up prior to performing any Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent tests:
- ignition switch in RUN
- gearshift lever in Transmission Range (TR) PARK (P)
- parking brake must be applied
- all passenger compartment doors, hood and liftgate closed
- all switches in the nominal OFF position
- wiper control in OFF position, wipers parked
- headlamps OFF
- driver's window in UP position
- driver's safety belt not buckled

2. Select vehicle to be tested.

NOTE: Do not operate any handle, control or switch that may produce a module input unless instructed to do so by tester program.

3. Perform Data Link Diagnostic Test.
a. If data link diagnostic test passed and concern(s) remains, go to Inspection and Verification of the applicable sub-system to service concern.
b. If data link diagnostic test did not pass, go to Communication Systems Diagnostics. Component Tests and General Diagnostics
