Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Record USER 1 and USER 2 preset radio frequencies and set clock.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable. Wait one minute.
WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
3. Remove utility compartment.
4. Disconnect air bag diagnostic monitor connectors.
NOTE: Air bag diagnostic monitor is a blue box with two connectors.
5. Remove four screws retaining air bag diagnostic monitor and bracket to floor pan and A/C heater case bracket.
6. Remove air bag diagnostic monitor and bracket.
INSTALLATION
1. Install air bag diagnostic monitor and bracket. Install four screws retaining air bag diagnostic monitor and bracket to floor pan and A/C heater case bracket. Tighten screws to 11-13 N.m (98-115 Lb-In).
2. Connect air bag diagnostic monitor connectors.
3. Install utility compartment.
4. Connect battery ground cable.
5. Reprogram USER 1 and USER 2 preset radio frequencies and set clock.
