Lower Oil Pan

REMOVAL






1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.






3. Remove the oil pan plug and drain the engine oil.






4. Remove the ten oil pan bolts and remove the oil pan.
- Discard the gasket.

INSTALLATION






1. Position the oil pan and gasket and install the ten retaining bolts.

NOTE: All sealing surfaces must be cleaned prior to assembly. Use metal surface cleaner F4AZ-19A536-RA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-MSB392-A to clean the sealing surfaces.






2. Install the oil pan plug and refill the engine oil.
- Use engine oil meeting Ford specification WSE-M2C903-A.

3. Lower vehicle.






4. Connect the battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.
