Special Tools:

Removal
1. Disconnect both battery ground cable(s).
2. Remove the turbocharger compressor manifold.
3. Remove the air inlet tube, duct and inlet duct bracket.
4. Remove the accessory drive belt.








5. Disconnect the power steering lines.





6. Remove the generator mounting bracket.
1. Remove the bolts.
2. Remove the mounting bracket.





7. Using the High Pressure Line Disconnect Tool, disconnect the high pressure line.





8. Disconnect the injection pressure sensor electrical connector.
9. Remove the valve cover.
10. Remove the rocker arms and push rods.
11. Remove the fuel injectors.





12. Disconnect the fuel supply line.





13. Remove the 18 cylinder head bolts.





14. Install the Cylinder Head Lifting Tool.
1. Position the Cylinder Head Lifting Tool on the cylinder head.
2. Install the bolts.
3. Install the Heavy Duty Floor Crane.





15. Remove the nuts and bolts from the exhaust manifold and the exhaust adapter pipe.
16. With an assistant, lift the cylinder head and remove it from the vehicle.
17. Clean and inspect the cylinder head mating surface.

Installation
1. Install the cylinder head gasket onto the cylinder block.
2. Using the Cylinder Head Lifting Tool and the Heavy Duty Floor Crane, with an assistant, lift the cylinder head and position it on the cylinder block.





3. CAUTION: Do not use too much engine oil on the threads of the cylinder head bolts, or damage to the threads and poor sealing can result. Do not use anti-seize compounds, grease or any other lubricants except engine oil on the cylinder head bolt threads because they will affect the true torque valve reading of the bolts.

NOTE: The cylinder head bolts are installed in four steps.

Lightly lubricate the cylinder head retaining bolt threads and flanges with clean engine oil and install the cylinder head retaining bolts.





4. Further tighten the cylinder head bolts.





5. Further tighten the cylinder head bolts.





6. Final tighten the cylinder head bolts.





7. Remove the Cylinder Head Lifting Tool and the Heavy Duty Floor Crane.





8. Install the nuts and bolts into the exhaust manifold and the exhaust adapter pipe.
9. Install the fuel injectors.





10. Connect the fuel supply line.





11. Install the high pressure line.
12. Install the rocker arms and push rods.
13. Install the valve cover.





14. Position the generator mounting bracket and install the retaining bolts.





15. Connect the injection pressure sensor electrical connector.








16. Connect the power steering lines.
17. Install the accessory drive belt.
18. Install the turbocharger compressor manifold.
19. Install the air inlet tube, duct and inlet duct bracket.
20. Reconnect both battery ground cable(s).
