Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

Special Tool(s)

REMOVAL
1. Raise and support the vehicle.







2. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.







3. Remove the heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) from the exhaust manifolds and exhaust pipe using the special tool.
^ If necessary, lubricate the heated oxygen sensors with Ford Penetrating Lubricant - E8AZ-19A501-B or equivalent to assist in removal.

INSTALLATION












1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Apply a light coat of Anti-Seize Compound F6AZ-9L494-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M12A4-A to the threads of the heated oxygen sensors.
