Compressor Fitting HVAC: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Recover the refrigerant.
3. Disconnect the A/C pressure cut-off switch electrical connector.
4. Remove the A/C pressure cut-off switch.
5. Remove the A/C manifold retaining bolt.
6. Remove the hose support bolts from the back of the engine.
7. Disconnect the EGR vacuum harness and move it aside.
8. Loosen the bolt and disconnect the engine control sensor wiring harness.
9. Remove the nut from the wire harness retainer.
10. Remove the stud bolt and the ground wire.
11. Disconnect the PCM electrical connector and position the connector aside.
12. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose and position it aside
13. Disconnect the A/C manifold and tube from the suction accumulator/drier.
14. Disconnect the A/C manifold and tube from the A/C condenser core and remove the A/C manifold and tube.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
- Lubricate the O-ring seal with Motorcraft YN-12c refrigerant oil or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
- Apply Pipe Sealant With Teflon (R) D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent meeting Ford specifications WSK-M2G350-A2 and ESP-M18P7-A to the threads of the A/C manifold retaining bolt.
