Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect the Throttle Position sensor (TP) connector.
3. Remove the screws and the throttle position sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE
^ Failure to install the throttle position sensor in this manner may result in excessive idle speeds. Install the throttle position sensor by sliding the rotary tangs into position over the throttle shaft blade, then rotate the throttle position sensor.
^ When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
2. Install the throttle position sensor with the tangs in correct alignment.
