Electronic Brake Control Module: Service and Repair

Removal

1. CAUTION: Prior to removal of module, it is necessary to upload module configuration information to New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester. This information needs to be downloaded into the new module once installed.

Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.





3. Remove the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) dust shield.
1. Remove the screw.
2. Remove the bolts.





4. Disconnect the anti lock brake control module electrical connector.
- Slide the connector lock rearward.





5. Remove the three HCU bracket to frame bolts.





6. Lift the bracket hooks from the frame and lower the HCU to access the anti-lock brake module.





7. CAUTION: Be sure to lift straight up to avoid damage to the HCU components.

Remove the anti-lock brake module.
- Remove the bolts.

Installation








1. CAUTION: Once the new module is installed, it is necessary to download the module configuration information from the New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester into the new module.

Note: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn its strategy.

Note: Clean the top of the HCU before installing the new module.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
