Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
1. Verify the customer concern by operating the wiper and washer.2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

Mechanical
^ Windshield wiper blade
^ Binding wiper arm and pivot shaft
^ Rear wiper motor
^ Empty windshield washer reservoir
^ Kinked or broken washer hoses
Electrical
^ Battery junction box:
- Fuse 2 (10 A)
- Fuse 23 (15 A)
- Fuse 5 (30 A)
- Fuse 8 (25 A)
^ Windshield wiper motor
^ Rear wiper motor
^ Windshield washer pump
^ Rear washer pump
^ Connectors
^ Multifunction switch
^ Rear wiper/washer switch
3. If the NGS tester does not power up, refer to the NGS tester manual.
4. Carry out the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If the NGS responds with:
^ CKT 914, CKT 915 or CKT 7O = ALLECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to Information Bus.
^ NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for FEM, go to Pinpoint Test A. A: No Comm. With the Module-Front Electronics Module
^ System passed, retrieve and record the Continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs and carry out self-test diagnostics for the FEM.
5. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to FEM DTC Index to continue diagnostics. Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
6. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, proceed to Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
