Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

WARNING:
^ DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL-RELATED COMPONENTS. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE MIXTURES ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND CAN BE IGNITED RESULTING IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
^ FUEL IN THE FUEL SYSTEM REMAINS UNDER HIGH PRESSURE EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING.
^ BEFORE WORKING ON OR DISCONNECTING ANY OF THE FUEL LINES OR FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS, THE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE MUST BE RELIEVED.


1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
3. Remove the engine air cleaner, the air cleaner outlet tube and the accelerator splash shield.
4. Remove the throttle body spacer. For additional information, refer to Throttle Body Spacer.







5. Disconnect the EGR vacuum regulator (EVR).
^ Disconnect the electrical connector.
^ Disconnect the vacuum line.







6. Remove the bolts and the bracket assembly.







7. Remove the pressure regulator.
1 Disconnect the vacuum hose.
2 Remove the snap ring.
3 Remove the pressure regulator.

INSTALLATION







1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

CAUTION: Check for fuel leakage after installation is complete.

NOTE: Lubricate the new O-ring seals with engine oil.
