Transmission Cooler: Service and Repair

Removal

CAUTION: On the OTA fluid cooler must be replaced after a transmission overhaul. Do not try to clean, backflush or reuse the OTA fluid cooler or transmission damage may result.





1. Remove the upper bolts.
1. Insert a long extension and socket between the front grille and bumper.
2. Remove the upper bolts.
2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.





3. Remove the front skid plate if equipped.





4. Remove the lower bolts.





5. Remove the OTA cooler.
- Position a drain pan under the OTA cooler.
- Disconnect the fluid cooler tubes.
- Remove the OTA fluid cooler.

Installation





1. Connect the fluid cooler tubes.





2. Install the lower bolts.





3. Install the front skid plate if equipped.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Install the upper bolts.
- Insert a long extension and socket between the front grille and the bumper.
- Install the upper bolt.
6. Fill the transmission to the proper level with specified fluid.
