Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

CAUTION: When replacing an A/C compressor which has failed internally, perform the following procedures to prevent contamination of the refrigerant system:
^ If A/C Flusher is available, perform the Flushing procedure.
^ If A/C Flusher is not available, perform the Refrigerant System Filtering after A/C Component Replacement procedure.
^ Replace the A/C Evaporator core orifice. Expansion Block/Orifice Tube

NOTE: Replacement of the suction accumulator/drier is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of system contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator/drier.

1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Perform the Discharging and Recovery Procedure. Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery procedure
3. Remove the drive belt; refer to Drive belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories.







4. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.







5. Remove the manifold and tube assembly.
1 Remove the bolt.
2 Remove the manifold and tube assembly.







6. Remove the three bolts.







7. Remove the A/C compressor.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the A/C compressor.

INSTALLATION

















1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.

^ Service the replacement A/C compressor with the proper amount of PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA(Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
Refrigerant Oil Addition

^ Lubricate the new A/C manifold O-rings with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
