Special Tools:

Removal





1. Remove the four screws and the gearshift lever boot.





2. Remove the upper gearshift lever.





3. Remove the gearshift lever upper boot.





4. Remove the four bolts and the lower gearshift lever. Discard the gasket.





5. Remove the gearshift lever blocks.





6. Separate the lower gearshift lever from the gearshift lever retainer.





7. Remove the snap ring and the lower gearshift lever boot.

Installation





1. Install the inner gearshift lever boot ring into the gearshift lever boot.





2. Install the gearshift lever boot into the special tool.
^ Apply Silicone Lubricant F7AZ-19G208-BA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M13P4-A to the shift lever boot.
3. Position the gearshift retainer on a vise. Using the special tools, install the gearshift lever boot into the gearshift lever retainer.





4. Install the lower gearshift lever into the gearshift lever retainer.





5. Install the gearshift lever blocks.
^ Install the gearshift lever blocks with the notches facing upward.





6. Install a new gasket, the lower gearshift lever and the four bolts.





7. Install the upper gearshift lever boot.





8. Install the gearshift lever boot and the four screws.
