Fuel Rail: Service and Repair

SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S)

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Perform fuel pressure release procedures.
3. Remove the upper intake manifold.







4. Disconnect the fuel injector connectors.







5. Disconnect the fuel line.
^ Use the Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool (3/8 inch) or (1/2 inch).







6. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold.
^ Remove the bolts.
^ Remove the manifold.

INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate new O-rings with XO-10W30-QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M2C153-F and install two on each injector.

CAUTION: Never use silicone grease. It will clog the fuel injectors. Make sure the injector end caps are clean and free of contamination.

2. Install the fuel injection supply manifold.
^ Install the fuel injector.
^ Install the fuel injection supply manifold.







3. Tighten the bolts.







4. Install the connectors on the fuel injector.
5. Install the upper intake manifold.







6. Install the cap on the fuel pressure relief valve.
