Tailgate Latch: Service and Repair

NOTE: Driver shown, passenger similar.

REMOVAL
1. Lower and support the tailgate.







2. Remove the tailgate access cover.
1 Remove the screws.
2 Remove the tailgate access cover.







3. Disconnect the tailgate latch release link from the tailgate latch remote control.
1 Open the tailgate latch rod retainer.
2 Disconnect the tailgate latch release link from the tailgate latch remote control.







4. Disconnect the tailgate support cables from the pickup bed strikers.







5. Remove the tailgate latch.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the tailgate latch.
^ Remove the tailgate latch release link.

INSTALLATION












1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: Prior to installation, remove the slack in the tailgate latch release link by pulling the tailgate latch release link to the center of the tailgate. Close the tailgate latch rod retainer over the thread of the tailgate latch release link.
