Expansion Valve: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the A/C evaporator core. For additional information, refer to Evaporator Core.







2. Separate the insulator tape and remove the clip.







3. Disconnect the fittings.

CAUTION: Use a wrench on each side of the fitting to prevent damage to the A/C fitting.







4. Remove the thermal expansion valve from the core.

INSTALLATION







1. Install the A/C evaporator expansion valve.
1 Install new green O-ring seals.
^ Lubricate with clean PAG Compressor Oil YN-12-C meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.

NOTE: The green O-ring seals cannot be seen. They are located in the connections.

2 Install the A/C evaporator expansion valve.
3 Connect the refrigerant lines.
^ Connect the A/C liquid jumper line.
^ Connect the A/C suction jumper line.







2. Install the bulb and clip.
^ Use ESA-M99G50-A insulator tape.
3. Install the A/C evaporator core. For additional information, refer to Evaporator Core.
4. Check the system for correct operation.
