Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Special Tools:

Removal
1. CAUTION: When repairing the exhaust system or removing exhaust components, disconnect all heated oxygen sensors at the wiring connectors to prevent damage to the heated oxygen sensors and wiring harness.

Raise and support the vehicle.





2. Install the special tool onto the exhaust system flex tube.





3. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.





4. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.





5. Remove the two dual converter Y-pipe-to-exhaust system flex pipe bolts. Discard the flange gasket.





6. Remove the dual converter Y-pipe-to-exhaust manifold nuts.





7. Remove the dual converter Y-pipe-to-exhaust manifold nuts.
8. Remove the dual converter Y-pipe.

Installation
1. Position the dual converter Y-pipe.





2. Install the dual converter Y-pipe-to-exhaust manifold nuts.





3. Install the dual converter Y-pipe-to-exhaust manifold nuts.





4. Install a new dual converter Y-pipe-to-exhaust system flex pipe gasket and two nuts and bolts.
5. Remove the special tool.
6. Lower the vehicle.
