System Description

Windshield
The windshield glass is standard safety glass consisting of a plastic laminate sandwiched between two sheets of glass. Urethane adhesive bonds the windshield glass to the windshield opening flange.

Window Regulator Control Switch
The window regulator control switch controls the actuation of the LH or RH front door power window regulator that raises and lowers the door glass, and the LH and RH rear quarter-glass flip-out actuators (if equipped).

The first detent position of the driver window regulator control switch will cause the front door window glass to move downward until the window regulator control switch is released. The second detent position will express-open the front door window glass.

One Touch Down Window Operation
The one touch down driver window feature is controlled by the Front Electronic Module (FEM). When the driver window regulator control switch is actuated to an express down position (second detent), the FEM powers the window regulator until the window regulator control switch is actuated to a different position or the FEM detects the front door window glass is in the full down position. Pressing the window regulator control switch from the first detent position to the second detent position will not actuate the express down mode. The one touch function is halted if any of the following occurs:
^ Seven seconds have passed since the command was issued.
^ The down button is pressed.
^ The up button is pressed
^ One second after the FEM detects a stalled window motor.
^ The ignition switch is not in RUN or ACC and the delayed accessory relay is de-energized.

Window Glass, Door
The bottom of the front door window glass is mounted to the front door window channel bracket that is a part of the window regulator mechanism. Snap-in nylon inserts provide attachment points for the front door window glass and prevent direct contact between the front door window glass and the front door window channel bracket.

Window Glass, Sliding Door
On three-door models, a fixed LH side glass is utilized. Vehicles with dual sliding rear doors have fixed LH and RH door glass.

Window Glass, Rear Quarter
The LH and RH rear quarter glass are a flip-open design, operated manually by the passenger. There is an optional power flip-open LH and RH quarter glass available which is operated by the driver utilizing the master window control switch.

Window, Liftgate
The liftgate window is:
^ available with optional rear window defroster
^ equipped with optional thru-the-glass rear wiper pivot arm.

Heated Back Window Switch
The heated back window system consists of the following:
^ Rear Electronic Module (REM)
^ heated back window relay
^ switch (part of the climate control assembly
^ a series of two layered grid lines baked on the interior surface of the rear window
^ system wiring

The switch has a:
^ push-button, spring-loaded to neutral position that turns the system on or off.
^ REM-controlled heated back window relay that turns off automatically after approximately 10 minutes of operation or when the button is pressed to the OFF position.

If more than 10 minutes is required, the control can be reactivated for another 10 minutes by momentarily pushing the button to the ON position. This operation can be repeated as necessary.
