MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) ON WITH
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P0420 AND/OR
P0430

FORD:
2001-2002 Crown Victoria

LINCOLN:
2001-2002 Town Car

MERCURY:
2001-2002 Grand Marquis

ISSUE
Some 2001-2002 Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis/Town Car vehicles may exhibit the MIL on with DTC P0420 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold - Bank 1) and/or P0430 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold - Bank 2).

ACTION
Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using WDS release B34.11 and higher or B35.2 and higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website. Replacement of catalysts is no longer necessary to address the most common causes of this condition.

NOTE
THIS NEW CALIBRATION IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE B35 CD.
