Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor - FS-10

REMOVAL

CAUTION: To prevent refrigerant system contamination, if you are installing a new A/C compressor because it has failed internally, you must carry out the following procedures:
^ If A/C flushing equipment is available, carry out the Flushing general procedure.
^ If A/C flushing equipment is not available, carry out the Refrigerant System Filtering after A/C Component Replacement general procedure.
^ Installation of a new suction accumulator/drier is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of system contamination from failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator/drier.
^ Install a new A/C evaporator core orifice.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Perform the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure.
3. Remove the engine Air Cleaner (ACL) and the air cleaner outlet tube.
4. Remove the drive belt.







5. Disconnect the A/C clutch electrical connector.







6. Disconnect the A/C manifold and tube.
1 Loosen the bolt.
2 Remove the A/C manifold and tube.







7. Remove the A/C compressor.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the A/C compressor.

INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil or equivalent.







2. Install the A/C compressor.
1 Install the A/C compressor.
2 Install the bolts.







3. Install the A/C manifold and tube.
1 Lubricate the new A/C manifold O-ring seals with PAG oil or equivalent and install the O-ring seals on the A/C compressor.
2 Install the A/C manifold and tube.







4. Connect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
5. Install the drive belt.
6. Install the engine air cleaner and the air cleaner outlet tube.
7. Reconnect the battery ground cable.
8. Evacuate and charge the A/C system.
