Rear Safety Belt Retractor

Safety Belt Bolt Bit:

SPECIAL TOOL(S)

REMOVAL

WARNING: ALL SAFETY BELT ASSEMBLIES INCLUDING RETRACTORS, BUCKLES, FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLE SUPPORT ASSEMBLIES (SLIDE BAR), SHOULDER BELT HEIGHT ADJUSTERS (IF SO EQUIPPED), CHILD SAFETY SEAT TETHER ATTACHMENTS, AND ATTACHING HARDWARE SHOULD BE INSPECTED AFTER ANY COLLISION. ALL BELT ASSEMBLIES SHOULD BE REPLACED UNLESS A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN FINDS THE ASSEMBLIES SHOW NO DAMAGE AND OPERATE PROPERLY. BELT ASSEMBLIES NOT IN USE DURING A COLLISION SHOULD ALSO BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF EITHER DAMAGE OR IMPROPER OPERATION IS NOTED.

1. Remove the safety belt anchor trim cover.







2. Remove the rear safety belt anchor.
1 Remove the rear safety belt anchor nut.
2 Remove the rear safety belt anchor.







3. From behind the rear safety belt guide bolt cover, release the retaining tab and open the cover.

NOTE: The front safety belt guide has been removed for clarity.







4. Using the special tool, remove the rear safety belt guide bolt and guide.







5. Remove the roof trim panel.







6. Remove the six luggage compartment back lower trim cover screws.







7. Remove the six pin-type retainers and the luggage compartment back lower trim cover.







8. Remove the C-pillar trim panel pin-type retainer.







9. Remove the C-pillar trim panel.
1 Feed the safety belt webbing through the opening.
2 Remove the C-pillar trim panel.







10. Remove the rear safety belt retractor.
1 Using the special tool, remove the bolt.
2 Remove the safety belt retractor.

INSTALLATION

WARNING: ALL SAFETY BELT ASSEMBLIES INCLUDING RETRACTORS, BUCKLES, FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLE SUPPORT ASSEMBLIES (SLIDE BAR), SHOULDER BELT HEIGHT ADJUSTERS (IF SO EQUIPPED), CHILD SAFETY SEAT TETHER ATTACHMENTS, AND ATTACHING HARDWARE SHOULD BE INSPECTED AFTER ANY COLLISION. ALL BELT AS ASSEMBLIES SHOULD BE REPLACED UNLESS A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN FINDS THE ASSEMBLIES SHOW NO DAMAGE AND OPERATE PROPERLY. BELT ASSEMBLIES NOT IN USE DURING A COLLISION SHOULD ALSO BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF EITHER DAMAGE OR IMPROPER OPERATION IS NOTED.







1. Install the rear safety belt retractor.
1 Position the safety belt retractor.
2 Using the special tool, install the bolt.

NOTE: Make sure to tighten nuts and bolts to specification.







2. Install the C-pillar trim panel.
1 Position the C-pillar trim panel and feed the safety belt webbing through the opening.
2 Align the C-pillar trim panel and push in, fastening the retainers.

NOTE: Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.







3. Install the C-pillar trim panel pin-type retainer.







4. Install the rear safety belt guide.
1 Position the rear safety belt guide.
2 Using the special tool, install the rear safety belt guide bolt.
3 Close the rear safety belt guide bolt cover.

NOTE:
^ Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
^ Make sure to tighten nuts and bolts to specification.
^ If the safety belt guide cover is damaged or if it does not remain closed, install a new cover.







5. Install the luggage compartment back lower trim cover and the six pin-type retainers.







6. Install the six luggage compartment back lower trim cover screws.







7. Align the retaining tabs and install the roof trim panel.







8. Install the rear safety belt anchor.
1 Position the rear safety belt anchor.
2 Install the rear safety belt anchor nut.

NOTE:
^ Make sure to tighten nuts and bolts to specification.
^ Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.

9. Install the safety belt anchor trim cover.
10. Check the restraint system for correct operation.
