Window Regulator: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the C-Pillar trim panel.
2. Position the rear of the carpet aside.
3. Remove the water shield from the rear window glass motor and discard.







4. Position the rear window glass regulator access panel aside.
1 Remove the screws.
2 Remove the nut.
3 Position the rear window glass regulator access panel aside.







5. Position the rear window glass to the center position using the following procedure.
1 Start with the ignition key in the OFF position.
2 Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
3 Press the rear window glass control switch vent button six times.
4 Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
5 Press the rear window glass control switch vent button six more times.
6 Turn the ignition key to the ON position. At this point the rear window will move up and down approximately 20 mm (0.8 in). This signifies that the rear window glass motor has entered into the initialization mode.
7 Hold the rear window glass control switch in the full up position until the rear window glass stops in the full up position.
8 Hold the rear window glass control switch in the full down position until the rear window glass stops in the full down position.
9 Hold the rear window glass control switch in the full up position until the rear window glass is in the center position and release the switch.
10 Turn the key to the OFF position.

NOTE: If the rear window glass will not lower using this procedure you must cut the actuating cables to the regulator and low the window glass manually. After cutting the regulator cables you must replace the regulator assembly.







6. Remove the rear window glass bolts.
7. Secure the rear window glass in the full up position.







8. Remove the rear window glass regulator bolts.
9. Disconnect the rear window glass regulator motor electrical connector.







10. Remove the rear window glass regulator drum housing bolts.







11. Remove the rear window glass regulator assembly.
^ Position the slider to the midway point.
12. If necessary, transfer the rear window glass motor.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: The rear window glass motor must be indexed after a repair has been carried out.
