Clutch System Bleeding-Vehicles with iB5 Manual TransaxleSpecial Tools
WARNING: Brake fluid contains polyglycol ethers and polyglycols. Avoid contact with the eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. If brake fluid contacts the eyes, flush the eyes for 15 minutes with cold running water. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If taken internally, drink water and induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
CAUTION: If brake fluid is split on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
NOTE: Make sure there is absolute cleanliness when topping up brake fluid.
NOTE: Do not reuse brake fluid.
NOTE: If there is a suitable pressure bleeder it may be used to bleeding the system.
1. General Note
^ Parts of the clutch control system are located so that small air-inclusions will be reduced automatically.
2. Remove the air cleaner.
1. Disconnect the electrical connector at the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
2. Detach the intake pipe.
3. Remove the air intake pipe.
4. Using a suitable suction device, drain the brake fluid reservoir until the MIN mark.
5. Fill up the reservoir of special tool 416-D002 or equivalent with Super DOT 4 brake fluid approximately 100 ml.
6. NOTE: The reservoir of special tool 416-D002, or equivalent, must be below the bleed nipple.
Install the special tool, open the bleed nipple an pump approximately 80 ml. brake fluid into the clutch control system.
^ Tighten the bleed nipple to 10 Nm.
^ Remove the special tool.
^ Bleed the clutch control system, press down the clutch pedal 4 - 5 times. During bleeding, full travel of the clutch pedal must be reached.
7. Install the air intake pipe.
8. Install the air cleaner.
1. Connect the electrical connector of the MAF sensor.
2. Install the intake pipe.
9. NOTE: Make sure there is absolute cleanliness when topping up brake fluid.
Check the brake fluid level.
^ The brake fluid level must be between the MIN and MAX mark. If the brake fluid level is lower than the MIN mark the red brake Warning lamp will light up.
^ If necessary top up the brake fluid reservoir with brake Fluid super DOT 4.
10. NOTE: Engage the reverse gear carefully.
Test the functionality of the clutch control system.
^ Start the engine, after 2 seconds depress the clutch pedal, carefully engage the reverse gear. If there are abnormal noises ,bleed the clutch control system automatically by depressing the clutch pedal 4 - 5 times. During bleeding, full travel of the clutch pedal must be reached.
^ Test the functionality of the clutch control system after 30 seconds again. If there are still abnormal noises carry out steps 1 to 9 again.
