Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

CAUTION:
- To prevent refrigerant system contamination, if you are installing a new A/C compressor because the compressor has failed internally, you must carry out the following procedures:
- If A/C flusher is available, carry out the Flushing general procedure.
- If A/C flusher is not available, carry out the Refrigerant System Filtering After A/C Component Replacement general procedure.
- Install a new A/C evaporator core orifice.

1. Perform the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure.
2. Disconnect the battery.







3. Unlatch the air breather.







4. Disconnect the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.







5. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
1 Loosen the clamp.
2 Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube.
3 Remove the air cleaner outlet tube assembly.
6. Remove the drive belt.







7. Disconnect the electrical connector.







8. Remove the bolt and the A/C manifold and tube.







9. Remove the bolts and the A/C compressor.

INSTALLATION












1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Lubricate the new A/C compressor with the correct amount of PAG Compressor Oil, YN-12c, F7AZ-19589-DA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. See: Refrigerant Oil Addition.
- Lubricate the O-ring seal with PAG Compressor Oil, YN-12c, F7AZ-19589-DA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
