Compressor Fitting HVAC: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

NOTE: Replacement of the suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of system contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.







1. Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube assembly [1][2]spring lock coupling from the suction accumulator. See: Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Procedure.
^ Discard the O-ring seals.







2. Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube assembly from the condenser core.
^ Discard the O-ring seal.







3. Disconnect the pressure cutoff switch electrical connector.







4. Disconnect the fuel line [1][2]spring lock coupling.







5. Remove the nut and position the bracket aside.







6. Loosen the bolt and remove the compressor manifold and tube assembly.
^ Discard the O-ring seals.

INSTALLATION







1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ If a new compressor manifold and tube assembly is to be installed, transfer the pressure cutoff switch to the new compressor manifold and tube assembly.
^ Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil or equivalent. See: Refrigerant Oil Addition.
^ Install new O-ring seals lubricated in clean PAG oil or equivalent.
2. Evacuate, leak test, and charge the refrigerant system.
